Luongo On Trade Block?
According to Iain MacIntyre of The Vancouver Sun, the Canucks will not ask goaltender Roberto Luongo to waive his no-trade clause and are not interested in trading their captain. Luongo has been mentioned in numerous trade rumors since the Canucks were elimated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Chicago Blackhawks last week. The Camden Courier Post even suggested Luongo could be dealt to the Flyers.
Canucks general manager Mike Gillis called the rumors “ridiculous” saying he was not interested in trading his All-Star netminder. Vancouver has several key decisions to make this summer, including trying to re-sign unrestricted free agents Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin.
Luongo has one year left on his contract before becoming a free agent next summer.
